Thoughts on Mysore

June 3rd, 2006

For those of you who are thinking about making the pilgrimage to Mysore, India to study with Guruji and Sharath – I highly recommend it!  I would tell you to really, really try to plan to stay AT LEAST TWO MONTHS.  I know this is extremely difficult for most people as there is the job, the family, the life to attend to at home.  But I can assure you that you will get far more from a two month vs. a one month stay.  This is due to the fact that the first month is really focused on getting accustomed to life here!

I did a lot of preparation for this trip (researched on the net about weahter, what to bring, where to stay, cost of studying with Guruji, etc, etc. etc….) but I came here with ABSOLUTELY NO EXPECTATIONS.  That is vital to a good expereince.  What do you mean no expectations?  Well, I mean none!  No expecations about my study with Guruji at the Shala, no expectations about how long or if I would get aclimated here, no expectations about how I would spend my days, no expectations about how much I would like being in India, etc.

Just come here with your clothes, toiletries, your Yoga Mat, any other necessities, and a totally open mind!  That’s it!

Om Shanti,

Krista
