“What…No Primary???”
Hum….Yummy practice! But so strange…Why? Because I didn’t do primary at all and went from standing straight to second up to Eka Pada…I was in standing and Sharath told me to go straight to second from now on…Hum…Do I like this? Not sure. Practice felt SOOOOO short without primary first (only a difference of about thirty minutes in practice time but it wasn’t the amount of time per se, just the way I felt)…Ok, so upside is that I had a ton of energy when I finished so backbends and finishing sequence felt like they never have before…Downside is that I felt incomplete, a little less grounded, I felt like I was skipping stuff in my practice. However, since this is the way Sharath wants me to practice now – so be it – I’ll have to get over myself and my slightly strange feelings about the whole thing…(Kwang made fun of me – he’s thinks I’m crazy for liking a two hour long practice – but what can I say it grows on you!)
It was just so odd b/c I am usually one of the last ones to finish and today I was like the first person to finish my practice ;( Albeit most other women working on second series right now only go a little further than me….Ah, just a little getting used to is all. Plus, I gotta say it will take me a few weeks to get comfy with the new poses I have. I’ve done them all before a ton of times but it’s been a really long time since I have, and never in the shala with Sharath’s eyes always on you. In addition, I feel like the pace of my practice (at least just second) is much quicker so I definitely built up a fierce sweat this morning. Enough ramble…Practice was really good – all in all – just a little outta my comfort zone is all. That is good for me though b/c I haven’t been outta the comfort zone in far too long so this will simply add a little spice to my tasty practice
Since I finished so early I didn’t have any trouble whatsoever finding a spot in the ladies locker room to put my mat and myself…That is definitely a fringe benefit to this whole ending early thing! Like I said I had tons of energy so my finishing sequence felt terrific and I took a nice long Shavasana! After practice I gave Guruji his much deserved respects, and thanked Sharath before making my way back to my humble abode to begin working for the day. Man, I spent like 4 ½ hours on the computer without realizing any time had gone by…More research, more trying to teach myself programs, how to do things, and trying to figure out ‘what in the world I was thinking with all these crazy ideas I have’….Then I ran a couple errands and got caught in the pouring rain…Been raining pretty consistently since about 11am this morning! Rain is definitely needed in Mysore right now – I don’t think it’s rained a drop in about six days – but boy are we playing catch-up today…Makes you want to stay inside and cuddle with your blanket all day…Too bad that’s just not possible this afternoon….

Congratulations on moving up to second series! it should feel very good. I hope to see that day sometimes for myself, though there is probably sometime until then.
One quick question. Do you have your own laptop with you. I ask because I am planning to come to Mysore at the end of October and I will stay for three months. I have been trying to figure out whether I should take my laptop with me or not.

Hello, I like your blog.
Funnily enough I spent time pondering on the same thing as Ahu. I’ve decided to bring my laptop because I want to do some work out there. I’m just making sure it’s insured and all backed up before I leave. Are there LAN ports in internet cafes or wifi?
btw, David swenson says that everyone freaks out when their practice gets shorter, but it’s the quality that counts. Hope you’re enjoying it

Hello Ahu,
Glad you are enjoying the blog….To answer your question, yes I brought my laptop with me to India! I would suggest bringing your laptop if you will need to use it alot or plan to use the internet alot. However, be aware that my computer hardrive crashed on me here a few months ago and it was A TOTAL nightmare to get it up and running again! If you have a Dell Like I do then I say NO b/c they have a pretty non-existant support system here in India – even if you have a warrenty or insurance or support in the states, it will mean squat here! So, do double check the international coverage on your particular computer, and back up everything on your computer someplace and keep that at home – just in case…Plesae learn from my mistakes!!!
Do drop me an email when you arrive, I will be here till late December!
Om Shanti,
Krista

CJ,
Hey!!! I must tell you that you are right on to back up all your information and leave it someplace safe at home…Also, do be sure you double check your insurance info on the computer but also the type of support offered for your particular computer brand and model. Does it have international support, and if so is that support good, and does it really offer much in India??? Strangely enough India is a great place for computer support so you should be able to fix any problems you may have – however your computer company may not pay for those repairs if they don’t have a good international cue nearby!
There are Lan Ports in Internet cafes, and Anu’s Internet cafe has wifi (only one I know of at present)…However, if you will be here three months I totally suggest getting internet in your place once you get here (some flats already have internet hooked up but if they don’t it is still pretty cheap to get it at home, which is more of a bargin than internet cafes if you will be doing a lot of work on it everyday!)
Om Shanti,
Krista
