Happy Birthday Mama!
Today is my mama’s Birthday! I won’t reveal her age, as I don’t think she’d like that too much…But please do send her some special birthday wishes!

“How refreshing!!” That’s what I thought as I left the shala this morning after led practice. I could hardly believe I enjoyed it so much. Granted, it went quite fast and I didn’t really get very warm, but I went in knowing that and opted to do the best I could to enjoy practice this morning. So I did. I went nice and slow with sun salutations b/c my body was screaming – “I’m tight, I’m tight.” So I listened carefully and made sure to honor my body. As the practice progressed I began to open more and felt the tightness in my body start to ease away.
I honestly expected nothing from practice today b/c it was a led practice, and b/c I felt totally out of it due to the fact that I jumped out of bed at 4:50am and had to be at the shala by 5am. I really don’t like it when that happens b/c I personally need to get up and shower before practice so that I can properly wake up and get my bearings.
I came home to a house full of sleeping people…Kwang has today off from Saraswati’s class so he took full advantage of sleeping in; and Peter and Rosie slept in too. I actually quite enjoyed it b/c it allowed me to do my pranayama and meditation in the living room with total peace and quite. I quite enjoyed my pranayama and meditation practice this morning – I really got deep today – I got lost in the sounds outside, the breeze of the fresh morning air, and my own breath as I counted silently. Afterwards I felt totally refreshed and peaceful.
I jumped into the shower, did a little reading, and then called Mr. Shankara Narayana Jois to make sure we were still to meet at 9am for my astrology reading. “10am works better for me,” he said. “No problem, I’ll see you at 10am Mr. Jois,” and I hung up the phone. On my way out I grabbed my copy of “Around the World in 80 days” and began reading the first bit of the book during my 30 minute trek to JP Nagar where Mr. Jois resides.
So, the reading. Well, I don’t really want to say much about it, as he made a good point to keep it to myself. But I can say that he was amazingly accurate about so many things, and enlightened me about much in my future. He spent 2 ½ hours explaining my reading and answering questions I had about my life, both past and future. He even told me a bit about my previous birth and the one to follow in this life. He explains that your future is a combination of Karma from past lives – good and bad karma, and of human effort. Thus, some things will happen due to fate alone (karma), and some things will occur do to the human effort you put forth in this life. All in all I was totally pleased and really happy to have met this lovely man. I also grabbed five more copies of his book for Andrea and David, as they wanted to get some to take home with them.
When I finally got back home at 12:50pm I was beyond starving…Kwang and I grabbed a bite to eat (Well – I ate WAY more than a bite), and then I read and napped for thirty minutes. I did my evening pranayama a little early today, which was rather nice and it was another really ‘swell’ practice. The cool evening breeze kept blowing my hair around as I sat quietly and listened to the sounds around me, both far away and near. Soon afterwards I made a little oatmeal for dinner. I am completely and totally exhausted today – the bed is calling. I am feeling a little bit ill – not sure why but my body is really achy and my tummy isn’t happy. I hope I will feel better after a good nights sleep…Sweet dreams.
