onedurupai, onedurupai, onedurupai, onedurupai….

Today was rather fun, interesting, and long.  Peter, Rosie and Kwang all slept in till about 9am this morning but I was up much earlier working on this blog (among other things).  I sat at the computer for a while and finally got my butt in the shower when everyone woke up and we all motivated and decided to head out and run some errands.

First stop was Loyal World to get some much needed food for the house.  We spent a good deal of time there b/c there were four of us, and also because I asked the manager if I could take some pictures of the store to add to the website.

So we finally made it back home and put away the groceries - sat ‘for a bit’ as Peter and Rosie would say, and then got back on the Scooters to head out for the rest of our errands.  First stop was the Sandlewood Market area -stopped by Ashok Book Store to order a magazine,

then into the ’sandlewood market’.  I took Peter and Rosie to the oil vender I had the pleasure of meeting a few weeks ago.  They spent a little while smelling the oils and picking out some to purchase.

Then we all walked around there a little so they could get a feel for the place.  I got a ton more really great pictures of the market, which I’ll get up very soon.  And I learned a little Kannada and Hindi today too.  This flower vender was saying something over and over and over and over and over and over (you get the picture) and I wanted to know what it meant.  I purchased a bundle of flowers from him for a total of 10 rupees and then asked him what he was saying: onedurupai onedurupai, onedurupai, onedurupai was exactly what he was saying and it means one rupee (he was calling out “one rupee, one rupee”) over and over again to advertise his flowers for one rupee each.  So intrigued to know a little about what was going on and happy to see the vender was friendly enough to teach me something – I asked him how you say flower in Kannada – he told me Gulabi means flower in Kannada and Gulab in Hindi (but have since found out that Gulabi means Rose – Huva means flower).  So that totally made my day – it’s certainly true that you do learn something new everyday.

From there we headed out of the market and to our scooter to keep trucking along and marking off errands from the rather large To Do list I had in my bag.  Next we went to Rashinkar’s to pick up the yoga mat bag they were making for me (I ordered a rockin extra large brownish corduroy mat bag – man a lot of descriptives here).  Anyway, I made it as quick as possible casue I was already starving and we still had some more stuff to do.

The four of us ran around the hugh market area for a bit trying to find some large cushions to sit on (but no luck there); But we were able to find a large pot – so we can steam some veggies.  Grabbed a couple other things and then made a game time decision to grab lunch at the Metropole Hotel right next to the Regalis (none of us had really eaten anything all day long – I had wanted to go home and cook something since we just bought a bunch of groceries, but we were all so darn hungry to a point of utter starvation – so we just went to the buffet lunch they offered.  I gotta say it was pretty good – it definitely hit the spot and made me feel like a brand new person.

I think we walked into the house around 4pm and I felt like a million dollars – my tummy was happy and we had done everything we needed to today.  Kwang laid down to take a nap – he didn’t wake up till 4:30am this morning – but he only planned to Nap.  Peter was the next to go – he went to take a nap around 6pm and never woke up.  Then, around 8pm, Rosie decided to hit the sack.  Me, on the other hand, didn’t make it to the bedroom till 12am.  I spent hours uploading, installing, setting up, and picking out a theme for this new blog.  So, I really couldn’t take myself to bed till I at least got that done.  Decided to work on transfering all my back blogs Sunday – but needed to accomplish some things today – and as soon as that was done I got off the computer, washed up and headed to bed.
